Ireland Dublin man jailed for eight years for sexual abuse of two girls
Peter Doyle, 68, from Gleann Na hEorna, Springfield, Tallaght, Dublin, sexually abused two girls aged between six and nine, in offences dating from 1977 to 1991. The first woman made a statement to Gardaí in 2022 and said she believed a second girl may also have been abused, and Gardaí then took a statement from the second woman. Doyle was questioned and denied all allegations, then pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to indecent assault of the first girl and to four counts of indecent assault and one count of rape of the second child. On 3 March 2025 he was jailed for eight years, after Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo set a 15-year headline sentence that one report says was reduced for mitigating factors to consecutive terms totalling eight years.
