Donegal soldier ordered to donate to charity over abuse of gardaí in Letterkenny
On 10 March 2024, in the early hours, gardaí spoke to Darragh White, a 31-year-old serving member of the Irish Defence Forces, on Lower Main Street in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, because he was very drunk and disorientated. He was arrested, taken to Letterkenny Garda Station and charged with threatening and abusive behaviour and being intoxicated in a public place. His case was called at Letterkenny District Court, where his solicitor said he had no previous convictions, and he did not attend because he was on a course before a tour of duty to Lebanon. On 14 October 2024 the judge ordered him to pay a €250 donation to the Little Blue Heroes charity and adjourned the case to 9 December for a receipt of the payment.
