Case No. 15359Murder · Co. Limerick · 22 Nov 2007

Daughter of murdered Jeffrey Hannan pleads for justice

Jeffrey Hannan, a 19-year-old man, was beaten to death with an axe after attending a bonfire and house party in Southill, Limerick. He died in the early hours of 22 November 2007, and his body was found at about 10:40am that day in O'Malley Park. Over 20 people were arrested during the garda investigation and a file was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions, but a 2017 DPP letter said further evidence was needed, and no one has been charged or prosecuted. In November 2024, anonymous Facebook posts alleged the murder weapon was thrown into overgrowth, and gardaí made a renewed appeal for information on the 17th anniversary of the murder. The latest development is that his daughter Nikita, 18, spoke on the anniversary and said she wants justice for her father, with still no prosecution to date.
