Court of Appeal dismisses sentence appeal of Daniel Ramamoorthy and refuses access to references
Daniel Ramamoorthy, a former Department of Enterprise adviser, was convicted of sexually exploiting a 13-year-old boy at a Christian children's camp in 2017 by asking him to send a picture of his penis over Snapchat, and pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material. On 24 March 2025 Judge Sinéad McMullen at the Central Criminal Court jailed him for two years and four months. At the Court of Appeal his counsel argued the sentence was excessive, and the court later found the judge did not err in setting a three-year headline sentence. The Court of Appeal has dismissed his sentence appeal and the judge refused the Irish Times access to his character references, with sources giving 1 April 2026 and 21 April 2026 as the date of the decision.
