Convoy man given suspended sentence for assault causing harm in taxi row
On 20 February 2022, Kyle Leeper, a 25-year-old of Carrickbrack, Convoy, struck Don Rowan with one punch on Lower Main Street in Letterkenny, County Donegal, during a mistaken row over a taxi. Mr Rowan fell backwards onto the pavement, banged his head and was found to have a displaced fracture and other facial injuries. Leeper pleaded guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court to assault causing harm, and sentencing was adjourned after he offered Mr Rowan €15,000. Reports on 6 November 2024 say Judge John Aylmer imposed a two-year sentence and suspended it entirely on a €100 bond to keep the peace and be of good behaviour for two years.
