Convicted sex offender sent sexual messages to teenagers after prison release, Cork court hears
Anthony Quigley, a 51-year-old man from Mitchelstown, Co Cork, who was a convicted sex offender, sent sexual messages to two 16-year-old children, a girl and a boy, in February and September 2025. The Snapchat message to the girl was sent at 2.02pm on 17 September 2025, about three hours after Quigley was released from Midlands Prison in Portlaoise, and the WhatsApp messages to the boy were sent between 10 and 15 February 2025. At Cork Circuit Criminal Court on 26 February 2026, the judge refused bail and ordered an updated psychiatric report and probation report, and the latest development is that Quigley was remanded in custody for sentencing on 28 April 2026.
