Cash and drugs seized in searches at Rooskey, Co Roscommon

On Thursday 12 October 2023 at about 7.30am, Gardaí carried out two simultaneous searches in the Rooskey area of Co Roscommon as part of Operation Tara and seized €15,130 in cash, €1,520 of controlled drugs and drugs paraphernalia. A man in his 30s and a man in his 20s were arrested and detained at a Garda station in the Roscommon area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Both men were later released without charge, and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The seized drugs are being sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, and the investigation is ongoing.
