Body of elderly man discovered at home in Mayfield, Cork city

A man in his late 70s was found dead at his ground floor apartment at Glenamoy Lawn, Mayfield, Cork city, at approximately 9pm on Saturday, 29 March 2025. A neighbour raised the alarm after not seeing the man for a number of days. His body was taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital for a postmortem examination, and the scene was forensically examined and sealed off. The Coroner has been informed, and the results of the postmortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
