Case No. 30399Contempt of court · Co. Dublin · 13 Aug 2021

20 Dublin residents held in contempt of court

In 2008, High Court possession orders were made on two Dublin properties, 31 Richmond Avenue in Fairview and 21 Little Mary Street in Dublin 2, arising from default on loans originally made by IIB Bank, and were affirmed by the Supreme Court in 2014. The loans were subsequently sold to KBC Bank, Beltany Property Finance and Pepper Finance Corporation DAC, which claims approximately €2.3 million is outstanding. In November 2020, the High Court made possession orders in favour of Pepper Finance Corporation DAC requiring around 20 occupants to vacate the properties. On 13 August 2021, Mr Justice Mark Sanfey held the occupants in contempt of court for their ongoing refusal to leave, but adjourned the case to the end of August to allow them to secure alternative accommodation.
